Are they real HKS or ebay "HKS" cam gears? There's tons of fake tomei and whatever else garbage out there.

How are the tolerances between the inner hub and the outer cog? (should be TIGHT!!!)

What about the outer cog tooth profile? If you put the belt on it, does it fit EXACTLY or is there a TINY bit of play/space?

I don't really understand the question because installing cam gears is pretty self-explanatory. The exhaust cam gear is bolted on with 4 bolts. Cake. Take the timing belt off and install the cam gear...

But, the intake cam is different because the RB25DET cam has the VVT on it. I'm not sure about removing the VVT electronically or mechanically, so others will have to help you on that. I remember that my HKS intake cam is drilled and tapped for an aftermarket cam gear though.

Darius how are the tolerances in the HKS gears???

Because I've seen a pair of HKS 4AGE gears and they had Gross amounts of space between the inner and outer hubs.

We keep tight tolerances on all of our pieces, so it is not a problem. That space right there is one cause of cam gear slippage. It's not a matter of how many bolts you have as the honda guys used to think either. That does play a role in it but the tolerances is the a major factor.

I've been thinking about cam gears, but we don't make them as yet. I was looking into Tomei ones (real), Greddy and HKS (the new ones with the Duraluminum outer cog)

I have a greddy exh. cam gear and the thing is very well toleranced. It fits on the HKS cam perfectly and fit on my stock cam perfectly as well. There is no play whatsoever, and the teeth on the belt fit the gear exactly too. I have to wiggle it a little to get it to slide on the key, so it fits well.

basically your timing adjusts in lower rpm so u make more power, SIMILAR to vtech but differat from it while still having the same premisis behind it

My advice would be to try to sell the intake cam gear.

nvcs is NOTHING like vtec, all it does is advance the valve timing alittle between a certian rpm range.ive got greddy gears on my rb20 and they are very well made, reasonably priced now too.

i believe that in order to use an intake came gear on a rb25, you need to purchase a non nvcs aftermarket cam. by the way I hope your not putting these on stock cams... I really don't forsee any power gains on timing the stock cams

I don't know how any of these cams are, but we tapped our gears so that you can bolt the stock sensor on it. (not for the RB though)

Yes, you can see power with adjusting the stock cams.Cam gears must be installed at 0° and adjusted on the DYNO.

Yes....adjust the exhaust cam but what about the intake cam (with VCT)?? Will the cam continue working with the factory settings?? Is that good for the motor??

HAHAHAHA not even close to vtec.

like carl said, the RB nonsense only changes timing, NOT lift (like vtec) it makes a very very minimal difference in power, if any.
