I need to get an opinion about my wife’s’ ’94 Q. We started getting an intermittent ck. engine light a few weeks ago, but procrastinated about investigating it, coz the car was running fine at the time(probably haven't heard that before). A few days ago, the car started hesitating both under normal acceleration and while at a constant speed. The feeling I felt while driving was almost like hitting a big gust of wind, the car would lose power for a second or two then return to “normal, and then again lose power for a second. Sometimes the rpms would drop but sometimes the rmps would remain constant during a hesitation episode. This situation was still intermittent, and not every time the car was driven. It’s gotten worse. We took it to a local shop (the nearest dealer is now about 1 1/2 hours away since we moved from Houston area). On the way over to the shop, my dad who was following my wife said there was a fair amount of black smoke from the tail pipe when it was experiencing the hesitations. They pulled two trouble codes # 35 EGR temp sensor and # 45 injector leak. I was wondering if either of these codes seems logical as a cause of the symptoms we are experiencing? Any thing else I should ask them to check? I have been so busy at work, I haven’t talked to the shop myself yet. BTW, my wife added fuel injector cleaner to the tank shortly after the hesitation started and obviously it didn’t help.THanks Mike

Leaky old injector will cause your symptoms and codes.

Well, if you do indeed have a leaky injector, be careful that you don't develop a hydrolock failure when you start it in the morning after sitting all night.

Have you changed fuel filter in last 12K miles? Is your fuel pump silent?

Best to get to a shop with a Consult, even if it is a Nissan or Z shop.

Thanks, I have a new filter waiting to go on,(I bought it planning to replace it, then the symptoms got alot worse). I will read the FSM tonight , but how big a deal is it to replace an injector on the Q? Does the plenum have to come off?Mikemannix, who would you recommend in the Austin area? I moved to Llano/Marble Falls area. I'm not sure the car would make it all the way to austin as it is.
