I recentley bought a 99 PF and have been having problems with the police. They keep telling me that I need to lower the beam level on the right headlight because it is to high. Does anyone have a tip or answer? Id really appreciate it. Thanks

phillips head screwdriver

there is a small "gear" on the back of the headlight housing, that if you turn it using the phillips, adjusts the beam.

See pages EL-32 and EL-33 of the factory service manual: http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/QX4/1999/EL.pdf (warning: large PDF file)

Each headlight has a screw that you can adjust to aim the beam higher or lower. If it's similar to my '03 and '04, then you'll need a flashlight and a long screwdriver / bit, because the screw is tucked away and tough to see (plus, you'll probably be adjusting the headlights in a dark environment). Once you know where the screw is, it's a simple five-minute DIY job.

Edit: fueler is right, it's actually a gear that fits a Phillips screwdriver, and not an actual screw.
