Help with head unit install

I tried throwing in my pioneer avic u310 bt in my dads 06 nissan frontier...it turned on for half a secondthen didnt turn back on...i used same wiring harness which is same connections for all nissans....his stock radio keeps freezing up!

Before i attempt it, would attaching the ground wire to the chassis of the head unit help or does that do the same thing as the ground cable in the harness?
