Hello, I am new to this forum and I need help finding a constant 12v power supply inside the cabin. I am trying to install a gps device on my 2009 m35. My wiring instructions say "white 2 pin plug, pin1 @ circuit breaker. The problem is I don't know where the circuit breaker is. I've searched on Google for the circuit breaker location but no luck. I own a dealership and I do not have any electrical background so please bare with me. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

That's probably a reference to the fuse panel which is essentially a collection of devices that "breaks a circuit".

Now, asking the question is a great start, but how far away are you from knowing how to use a meter? That is step one for locating a constant on source. I'd start with the garage door opener source.

Why not take it from one of the cigarette lighters like the one near the front dash? That is on when the car is on, which is how the GPS should work.

@ Double E... I am some what familiar with a meter. I just can't find a wire inside of the car large enough to supply 12v of constant power. I am currently running the gps from the 12v battery cable inside the engine compartment. It's just not ideal due to moisture and metal obstructions

@ EniGmA1987... Unfortunately my cigarette lighters lose power once the car is in the off position. My gps device needs constant power even when the car is off.

Just to be clear, I am talking about a gps tracking device, that will allow me to see where my car is located at all times of the day. Thank you both for your quick responses.

Then the answer is simple, wire it to the battery itself :)

Look under the steering wheel to the left for the fuse box and test the contacts for one that supplies 12v while the car is off. If you find one that is being used, get a dual fuse holder and splice in.....or wire it to the battery.

@TDot thanks, I'll try that.

TDot mirrored my response as long as you know how to use a meter. Be prepared to hunt for awhile as there are only a couple of sources that will be always on.
The size of the wire will not be critical on a low-draw device like that. Use what you find.

Thought...you might try tapping into the power seat wire.
