Can anyone tell me the fix is for not seeing the pictures. I am running Windows 7 and IE9 both in 64 byte mode. I cannot see any of the pics on this site. I suspect its Adobe. Does anyone know how I can fix this. I tried rolling back to 32 bytes and it won't let me do that. All suggestions are welcome.

Many thanks.

Are you sure you're running 64-bit IE9? On a 64-bit machine, usually a 32-bit version is also installed.

If you go to start > run > type in 'internet explorer' you should see both (one called Internet Explorer and the other Internet Explorer 64-Bit). Try the first one.

As far as removing Adobe, you can give that a whirl but I doubt it.

Or try compatibility mode in IE 9.

I personally would say screw all that and get Google Chrome. Best browser on the planet.

IE9 sucks, just like IE8 did. Get a browser that doesnt have problems like FireFox or Chrome.

You cannot use Adobe in Internet Explorer 64-bit, Adobe is not compatible. You must use the 32-bit version of the browser in your 64-bit OS.

Alot of people say this. "IE sucks blah blah". I've always wondered, WHAT sucks about it? I've been using IE and only IE since my first computer (Windows 95) and never seemed to have a prob? :gotme

Hey, for the same reason you have an M vs an Acura RL.

I'm using Chrome now to post this because IE 9 isn't working for me again. A real pain in the butt! I like IE too!!

Isn't it obvious? It sucks because Microsoft makes it. It also sucks because it is less secure than the other browsers by default (in the same way that Windows is less secure than Linux by default, the default being that attackers try to attack it more). As such, it is irrelevant that it has twice as many configuration options to make it far more secure than any competitor can be made. I use IE and only switch to FireFox for pages that IE won't work on, but the only time I have IE fail to work on a page is when my security settings in IE are too strict for the page. I wouldn't touch Chrome with a 10 foot pole. Is Chrome faster than FireFox? Maybe. Is FireFox faster than IE? Probably. Speed is the only reasonable complaint with IE. That said, I don't know about IE9, I haven't used it and it may be directly related with some of the problems people are discussing (although some mods and users have indicated otherwise). It also may be a sucky PITA with MS trying so hard to make it look like Chrome. It doesn't matter, though, to each his own, FireFox is a far better choice if you are lazy or don't have an in-depth knowledge of IE's security options. Regarding "IE 64-bit doesn't support blah," it's an invalid statement, the fact of the matter is that blah doesn't support IE 64-bit. Interestingly enough, Java does, but then they port from Linux. Oh wait, so does FireFox! Maybe Adobe sucks? Duh.

TOO ALL.......thank you for the great advice. I am going to try to fix IE9 but I have a strong feeling I am going to another browser. Probably Chrome. Thanks again.

I don't even know how to respond to that rant. I don't know you, nor do I have any problems with you as far as another user of this forum goes...but take my word for it (I have 7+ years of IT experience and I work in support so I deal with IE issues ALL THE TIME - amongst many other).

IE SUCKS a**! Use Chrome, Opera, FireFox, etc. They are ALL better than IE. Including speed and security. Do you know why there are not many security options in Chrome? Because Google wrote it in such a way that it's hard to expose to begin with. IE on the other hand...you know how many viruses come through that via ActiveX controls? It's ridiculous. And the only way to fight that is to crank the security up. When you do that though, you run the risk of other sites not working correctly.

That being said...I only use FireFox or IE when I'm working on my webpage to make sure the code is able to be viewed in multiple browsers. Otherwise, I don't touch either one. I used to use IE. Switched to FireFox for years. Then that got slow and clunky and now I'm a Chrome user. Google has proven time and time again, they know how to write software. They are this generations Microsoft, and they are doing it way better.

Well, lets review the threads here in the past couple days.
"IE9 has problems"
"IE9 doesnt render the site properly"
"cant see the pictures in IE9"

Hmm. Guess I dont know why people say it sucks. Seems great to me :lolling:

You obviously read what I said wrong, since I did said ADOBE doesnt support the 64-bit browser. Nice one.

Chrome is awesome.

Not only that, but if you use GMail it syncs a lot of stuff, etc.

I can sync my bookmarks between my home PC and my work PC without any other software since all the bookmarks are stored on googles server under my ID, etc.

Google Chrome is EPIC. Plus you can download nice extensions, etc. (I have one for mail, weather, etc.)

They should do a percentage out of the percentages listed of people who know something about computers.

It's probably a safe bet to say that 95% of the IE users are NOT computer savy.

On IE 9 now. Had to reset to get here. Yes, most folks who use computers really know nothing about them. Kinda' like folks who drive autos...

PS Kinda' reminds me that most people think. However, most have no idea if what they are thinking is rational or not...

Did you really just question my statement regarding the fact that most people are NOT computer savy? Get out of here lol.

If people WERE computer savy, I'd be out of a job. Some people can't even handle finding the damn model of the PC they are on (on the physical tower) when I have to call them to walk them through something...you're going to tell me they are computer savy? They are lucky they can turn it on.

I would venture to say that MOST of the general public does NOT know how to use a computer other than:

1) Turn it on
2) Launch internet browser or email client or word processing/photo app.
3) Turn off

That's about the extent most peoples knowledge of computers goes. If I had a nickle for every time I saw something a stupid user error (we call that an S.U.E in my business) cause...I'd be LOADED.

S.U.E...and ID10T...are the two most common acronyms for us IT folks. lol.

They have also proven time and time again that they know how to invade your privacy, so I avoid them (I agree, they do great things, and honestly, I haven't seen any articles regarding privacy invasion from Google in a few years, but historically, I saw a lot of them, so I just wish they were more adherent to their motto ["don't be evil"]).

No offense Ilya, all in fun. :gapteeth: Also, for the record, in case anyone actually cares, while I'm not an IE fanboy, there are simply several controls that I prefer to have in IE that aren't available in FireFox and Chrome. Perhaps they all relate to personal preference or privacy, and many people don't care for either of those things. Perhaps there are plugins to do the same things in the other browsers to boot, I don't know, but I do know this: IE is easier for me. I do recommend FireFox for other users, but I am an IT professional and I can take care of myself on IE.

I'm on Chrome now-IE 9 won't budge? You misread (misperceived/misthought as so many of us do) re my post. I agree w/you. Most are ignorant using both IE 9 and computers.

As w/you, thank goodness folks are so ignorant about their computers & OS's and their thinking-cuz you make the $$$ off their computer ignorance and I make the $$$ off their erroneous thinking and subsequent acting.

Haha my bad. I took the, "Yes, most folks who use computers really know nothing about them. Kinda' like folks who drive autos... " bit sarcasically due to the smiley (that smiley on another forum I am on suggested sarcasm from the people who used it often). Guess I'm just used to that lol.
