I'M LOOSING THROTTLE RESPONSE HALF WAY THROUGH THE TURN ON MY CIRCLE TRACK CAR.NOTES THIS CAR HAS A FUEL CELL WITH ONLY A DELIVERY AND RETURN LINE. (I'M THINKING I MAY HAVE TO ADD A VENT LINE)THE WIRING TO THE TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN REMOVED( ADDITIONAL INFO--THIS CONDITION HAPPENS IN 3RD GEAR) AND LASTS FOR THREE OR FOUR SECONDS.I BELIEVE THAT THE PICKUP IS POSITIONED CORRECTLY IN THE RIGHT REAR CORNER.THE CLUSTER HAS BEEN REMOVED SO THER IS NO SPEEDO OR TACH I AM TOLD THAT THIS MAY BE EFFECTING THE COMPUTER.I AM NOT SURE BUT I DON'T THINK THAT THIS FEELS LIKE A REV LIMITER.I'D LIKE TO HEAR YOUR IDEAS.THANKS

What kind of car is this on???

By "loosing throttle response" do you mean the car stops accelerating(holds a steady speed), or does it fall completly on its face and starts to slow, or something else?

So, it only happens in third gear while in a steady'ish state corner? The other gears are fine, and 3rd is fine in a straight line?

Do you have a fuel pressure gauge? If so, what is it reading when this happens?

With out knowing what kind of car it is, it is hard to guess. Some cars have a rev limiter that is unmistakable, others just feel like they fall on their face And I have no idea if removeing the cluster / transmission wiring would cause the problem. I would think that if it would cause a problem it would do it in every gear, maybe, maybe not, depends on the car probably.

Are you running any baffling or foam in the fuel cell?

I can't think of anything off hand that would cause that kind of problem other than fuel starve. but with it just happening in one gear in one state it is kind of wierd. Have you tried testing it at the same speed, in a diffrent gear to see if it is indeed gear dependent or if it is speed dependent?

this is a sohc 90 manual trans car.because it is a track car testing time is very limited to practice and heats.with a fuel cell and yes there is foam in the tank and the pickup tube is in the right rear corner. The car does not act like a rev limiter which cuts out like a machine gun but acts like i am lifting my foot off the gas even though the pedal is decked. This continues for 3 or 4 seconds which is avery long time under race conditions so by this time i need to be in 2nd again in order to no get hit.not too much time to analyze the problem during the race.

I know testing time on track is limited, I didn't know if you had tried screwing around with it during a practice session, or on a "closed Street" or anything.

Sorry I don't have any anwsers.

Might try the online mechanic forums. Make sure to include what kind of car it is. zeroforum/23

and if it is a 240sxhttp://forums.nicoclub.com/zeroforum/17

Good luck.

JUST AN FYI. WE'VE INSTALLED A AFTERMARKET TACH AND IT APPEARS THAT THIS CAR SEEMS TO BE HITTING THE REV LIMITER A LITTLE EARLY AND BECAUSE IT HAPPENS UNDER EXTREME CONDITIONS (FULL ACCELERATION) ITS BOUNCES OFF UNTIL THE REVS DROP. NEW CHIP (ORDERED) SHOULD RESOLVE THIS.

this issue has been resolved.

thanks
