havent been able to pass inspection in 10 months. massachusetts emmision is a *&%$#. there are 2 tubes comin off ya charcoal canister. they go to a little white valve called a vaccuum cut valve. 4 lines come off it..1 to the air, 1 to the fuel of the canister. and 2 hoses goin to I have no idea where..I am about to change that valve cuz it is cracked. I think that should take care of the p1447. I still need help on how to clean your egr valve and tubes that go to the intake..could someone out there please help me w/ these problems. im only gettin 18 mile to the gallon on teh highway which is bad. I need serious help but everyone on this site seems to be busy..just dont wanna spend crazy money on a new egr and a new egrc solenoid valve when all I might have to do is clean the egr tubes to pass inspection and get better milelage. any help on checking the egr and cleanin the tubes would be GREATLY appreciated. thx people will post the results on the p1447 after i change teh cut valve..hopefully thats the problem.

To clean the EGR tube, you should remove the tube from the engine. You can try using carb cleaner to remove any deposits (soak it if necessary); but you may end up having to manually ream the tube with a coat hanger or something similar to remove any blockages.

You can also try cleaning the valve itself if it shows signs of carbon build up. If you need a new one check out this thread for a great deal on discounted parts. zerothread/219110

The FSM doesn't really give any good diagrams, but I believe it runs off the rear exhaust manifold (which is why it's such a pain to do).

p1400 and p1447 ..are gonna be the death of me...all i know is my charcoal canister was disconnected for 3 years without me knowing..and my vaccuum cut valve is broke right now...i guess all i can do is install a new cut valve and try and air out all the hoses on the evap system and egr system..also the 2 hoses connected to my egrc solenoid....been driven around the streets of boston w/ a rejection sticker for 18 months...and i refuse to go to the dealership cuz they wont 50,00000$ to change 100$ parts

I moved your other thread since it was basically a duplicate of this one, and changed the title to see if anyone else has suggestions for you.

1 code is for the egrc solnoid and the other is for purge flow malfunction..im not gonna run out and buy a new egrc solenoid becuz it mmight just be my egr is serious clogged or the egr pipe is seriously clogged. you think the cloggage could trigger the egrc solenoid code?

i honestly be reading every thread on the internet for a week straight.tonite i have been online gatherin infor for 4 hours..driven me nuts man..its a matter of time before i get pulled over..sad part is my 1996 i30 runs like a 2002..i baby the thing..

well i will tell you one thing that charcoal cannister is a paper weight now. b/c if any water got in there then that thing is useless, and i hate to tell you but that is probably going to be more expensive than a short block.

it really is a bi*#% to get that egr tube off an clean it. i watched a mastertech do it one time and it took him about 4 solid hours of working on it to get it done and back together.

well I said I would check back in with my egr-evap system problems. when I started I had 4 codes. p3025 (ks) p1447, p1400, and whatever the charcoal canniset was..this was the problem. I learned alot and hopefully it helps others cuz I was on other forums and they had no clue even afet 50 posts. in 2001 I got an accident(rear end) and the dumskis at the body shop just thru my charcoal cannsister on upsidedown. so it wasnt connected for 6 YEARS. also teh vacuum cut valve was cracked and they didnt replace that either. the losers pocketed money for a new cannister and valve and a vaccuum cut valve (around 300$). I replaced those 2 and fixed 2 codes. so now to pass inspection im shootin a p1400. egrc solenoid valve. tested power and its fine. tested the vacuum on it and that is fine. checked wire harness etc. fine. so now what is next? check the egr itself? check the metal tubes/ tuibes for air cloggage? I think that HAS to be the problem. so basically I have to clean my egr tube. this is a 5 hour job for a master and who knows how long for me. what I would like to know is if anyone has directions on how to do so..

since my cannister was unplugged for 6 years it spread charcoal all thru my evap lines. that tube has to be filled with guck. the dealership said it a highly common problem in these cars 96 i30..they want 400 to CLEAN..im all set payin 400 to clean anything unless it was my 2007 lambhorgini diablo..

so any how to's? thx for help and I hope this helps other noobs..why spend money on new solenoids when they are fine. the car has so many sensors almost 50% its not even the sensor at all. its tubes and parts inbetween each sensor..thx your help will be appreciated..sorry for bad typin
