Hi I am looking for some information on "dougnutting" a RWD car and was wondering if anybody could help

when doughnutting if the steering wheel is released I.e. there is no steering input but the power to the rear wheels is kept constant will the car continue to doughnut or will the rotation stop?

How much steering input is required to exit a doughnut?

When should the lock be applied to exit a doughnut? I.e. if I wanted to go straight when exiting the doughnut where in the rotation should lock be applied

Any info would be great

Pete

if you want to see a good example of in-game physics, check out live for speed ( http://www.liveforspeed.com ). (if you havent already)

thats probably the best representation of real world control ive ever found on a computer.

DoughnutsThe principle of doughnuts is simple: Put one end of your car around the other one with the drive wheels spinning as many times as you want/can before you are sick. Sound like fun? It is.

Rear Wheel DriveSee the section on burnouts for starting a RWD donut. First of all, get your burnout started, and then slowly release the brake until you start moving forward. Start to turn the wheel and release the brake pedal more, and as you accelerate more, turn the wheel to full lock and back way off the brake. The car will lurch forward and turn sharply, and the back will fly around. Keep going onto the brake more as you start to slow down, so you can get more force for the next turn and release it more as you start to get thrown around. You can turn the wheel back the opposite way when you're going through a turn to just drift with the wheelspin if you like, and then turn to lock the other way for a nice reversal. It's really up to you to experiment with different combinations of how you like to get the car moving, but that's the basics of it.

There's LOT's more info in the thread I linked (That's why it's there

The easiest way is to wait for a rainy day. Go find an empty parking lot... Stop the car and decide which direction u want to go (left or right) turn the steering wheel all the way to the direction u want. Rev up the engine to 25k-3k and release the clutch. gun the gas petal, u can control it with the amount of gas u give. Now if you're doing this in dry weather with a N/A Ka u gotta constantly be revving. It's as easy as that.....One wheeler peelers can easliy do this, but having an lsd if more fun....

That is a high revving engine at 25000rpms. Wonder if it pulls all the way to redline.

Just felt like messin with ya because I'm bored

sigh*... first off... DO NOT WAIT FOR A RAINY DAY!!! WHEN IS THAT GOING TO WORK??? do you have LSD??? basically, you can't do anything without it...even doughnuts. if you really want to, watch that option 2 video with verena and nomuken. that might help you out. There is the clutch kick apporach, the GAS pedal. i wouldn't call it "doughnutting" either. it's simply doing doughnuts. anyway, practice on the track...not the street. no matter how much a person tells you what to do, you have to base your skills to your car and learn what your car has to offer for you. COUNTERSTEER!!!

you can do 'doneys' with an open diff, you just have to turn one way. and if you have a lot of power its actually easier exiting a doney with a one wheel wonder or no lsd.

if you have an open diff i think youll have to turn left, I cant remember its been a while since I had one. but the roll of the car will put the weight on that one wheel and it will spin its little heart out, especially if your wearin 15's in the back Exiting will be as simple as turning the wheel the opposite direction cause the car wont spin freely the other way, it will almost command that you go straight.

with an open diff, the inner wheel always spins out while the outter wheel takes a break while you gain traction.

Just try 180's to start and go from there...i guess.

Also "doughNUTTING" just makes me laugh everytime i read that...lmao

Edit: i just read this was for simulated driving. Never mind the whole 180 thing
