Whats the proper way to adjust dampening for drifting?

Ive talked with a couple of fairly good drifters, and they claim that dampening should be stiffer at the rear than the front.

I thought about it and that doesnt seem to make much sense to me. I figure dampening should be adjusted irregardless of which end of the car is stiffer. Isnt the priority to create a neutral feel for the car (as in understeer vs oversteer)? Or is there some factor that makes dampening tuning for drifting different than other forms of motorsport?

for a default settingdrive in a circle, with all your dampning at the same

if your front pushes, make hte front softer or rear harder. etc etc etcuntil you have it so you can easilly hold a drift

or at least thats how i rough tune mine.

Increasing your dampening rates on the rear is going to give you a noticable amount of oversteer. The best way is to do exactly what Yokota mentioned, as it's the only way to find out what works best for your own personal preferences.

Some people prefer to have a car neutral to oversteer or understeer, while others like the rear end to be a little swing happy.

How wide of a circle are you talking and how fast? Or are we just looking to push the suspension to the point of loss of grip whether it under or oversteers?
