hey guys, i just got my tein HE's today for my s14, and the manual was in japanese so my friend and i just kindof went by the stock suspension for the install. So i have quite a few questions.

1. The pillow ball mounts have a tein sticker on them, should this be facing any specific direction? (all my automotive knowledge leads me to believe that the pillow ball can be mounted in any direction you want, but i still thought id check).

2. I know the front shocks are left / right specific, but is this true for the rears? we couldnt tell a difference.

3. I am taking my car to get an alignment, purley because i have heard a lot of other people get it done after suspension work. Why would this be necessary?

4. Is there a way to make sure all of the coilovers are the same height? like some kind of machine at a specialty shop that i could take it to? or somthing?

5. anything else i should know? thanks :)

3.) Alignment can be thrown off by you un-bolting suspension parts. It can also be messedup if you change rideheight.4.) try parking on a solid concrete slab (i.e. Garage) Measure from fenderlip to ground.

The aftermarket struts/coilovers I have worked with should have an R or L stapmed in the part or model # on the shock body. Hopefully Tein's are the same, but it's definitely something simple to check for one way or another.

chmercer.....i have a set of HE's on my 95 240sx.1. i put the tein lettering so that it faces away from the engine

2. yeah i noticed that too...about the rear, so i just put them on

3. for the alignment, i drove around for about 100 miles and then got an alignment. i called tein's customer service and they said there is no need to break them in and to get an alignment after you install them. i didn't do it that way until i made sure that the height is where i wanted it, before i got it aligned.

4. for height adjustment, make sure your on a level surface and measure for ground to fender. if your hardcore get your car corner balanced to have your car perfectlyl balanced for the track.

5.when getting an alignment, get the front camber aligned too (i went with -1 degree camber in front) and then have them mark it. if you autocross, and adjust the camber for the track, it will be easier to put them back to -1 degree camber again.

hope that helps....

thanks for the reply, mine are also on my 95' 240.

what kind of a shop would you go to for corner weighing? and what are the chances my local service station knows how to properly operate my obscure japanese suspension's camber plate? :/ i dont really understand what goes on with getting an alignment.

So with the He's the marks that it has on the pillow ball mount, how do we adjust that, do we just take it to get aligned and specify a certain camber angle and then mark it on the pillowball mount plate? What should the center marked with an O be? Thanks

chmercer: i'm not sure where you can have your car corner balanced....i'll try to find out from my mechanic..

yomnym: it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out how to adjust your camber....raise the front of the car, loosen the four bolt and adjust (push it towards the engine = more negative camber: away from engine = positive camber)

it doesn't really matter what the 0 should be on hte camber plate, i think it just set from the factory along with height (factory settings, if you got your he's new, they should all the a factory setting height, damper setting, and i beilieve the camber)

but if you drop the car the camber will change, so adjust the height you desire, get an alignment and have them adjust the camber as well. you choice if you want to mark it or just remember where it set.

hope this helps....
