97 Nissan XE 2.4L 4 cyl 4x4 94K Getting code P0301 "Cylinder #1Misfire Detected".

Most likely time the code gets triggered is after the car was operated for a while, and then the engine turned off for 15 - 30 min. When it starts the car idles rough, and the above code gets triggered. If I drive the car for about one mile, the car starts working fine again. The code never got triggered while the car is running, nor when the engine is cold.

I'm the original owner and I've had the car serviced regularly. It was time to do some minor tuneup so I've replaced the Spark Plugs, Fuel Filter, Distributor Cap and Rotor, - All those parts were purchased from a Nissan Dealer. Even used some fuel injector cleaner additive mixed with the gasoline, but the problems keeps reoccurring.

Could this be caused by #1 cylinder - fuel injector being bad? Anything else I should check before changing the injector?

Thanks in advance,Loren

possible injector issue. im not sure i understand. how is it misfiring when its not running? anyway, i will say one common cause of misfires on those trucks is to have the egr passages get stopped up and all the egr go to one cyl. of course the egr does not flow when the engine is cold so that may not be your issue.

Thanks for the reply.I'll just change the fuel injector and then go from there.

My other question is about replacing the fuel injector - in the Haynes Manual for Nissan Pick-ups 1980-1997 p4-24, it recommends that "the coolant be drained before replacing the fuel injector". Is that a typo? I'm not a mechanic, but I fail to see how coolant has anything to do with the fuel injectors. :-)

Thanks

Yeap, that was it!

Changed the #1 cyl - Fuel Injector and everything is back to normal.
