Hey guys, I need advice on what parts I need to get for replacing my struts. I know I need to get OEM mounting parts but I don't know which ones I can keep and which to replace. I'm looking at the diagrams on Courtesy Parts Here Any help would be greatly appreciated. Looking at ordering the KYB G-2 struts from Rock Auto.

Also, do I need to get boots for the new struts? I have 226K on my front suspension.

First u will need some of the original parts. U can purchase the moog strut mounts from rockauto and the struts and also get the sway bar links while you are at it. The strut boots i suggest using the oem they snap in to the original parts u will be reusing. I got kyb boots and i had to cut and trim to fit u may do the same if u want they are cheaper. And i believe u are set.

If there is no play at all when you grasp the wheel and try to wiggle it, you shouldn't need to replace the ball joint.

For mounting hardware, replace the upper and lower strut mount nuts as well as the center nut for the strut, and for the rear shocks you'll want the upper and lower mounting nuts.

blkqx4 and Towncivilian are right on. When I did mine I used the KYB struts in my 02 QX with 152K miles on them and they ride ggreat. It's been posted here, and I found it too late, but stay away from the KYB strut mount. Already had 1 go bad and the other is making noise. I changed 1 with moog and problem solved. Nothing worse than doing a job like that twice.

Echo on the KYB strut mount :ohno:
reference for the surprisingly poor quality on KYB strut mounts:

(see post4)

I also kept it simple, and went with OEM/Nissan/Infiniti dealership part for the strut mount.

Can you see a difference? :rotfl

The only issue I have now is a loud popping/clunking noise from the rear when it flexes (Like entering a steep driveway at an angle)

happens even at slow speed? or "normal" speed when going over bumps/driveways?

if at normal speed, I'd suggest checking the rear tire. Sometimes the rear tire can move about. Just make sure it's snug against the under-body.

It's not the spare tire. It happens at slow speeds when the axle flexes
