I recently bought a 2000 Qx4 for my GF and its been great. There was one minor (non) issue which was that the shift from 1st 2nd would be a little hard but I found that (thanks to fueler) with a little warm-up and getting the rpm down to 1000 before putting it into gear solves the issue. It runs great.

I am now looking for another one for myself. I found a few online but the first one I am going to see is this one below at Smith Infiniti at Huntsville, AL.

http://www.infinitiofhuntsvill...=true

Its an 01 QX4 and they asked $9997 but are agreed to $9000 "out the door" in a quick phone call. It looks good and has 107k miles.

1) Could you guys let me know if thats a good choice and if the price is right or too much? 2) Is there any advantage in buying from an infiniti dealer and is anybody familiar with this dealership?

Also, its got 107k miles and its about time for all the mfg rec. maintenance which will cost me a bit as well.

Also, thinking of getting GF's 2000 QX4 with 125k miles transmission fluid+filter etc changed (not flushed) in that as it was likely never changed before.

Any advice? The dealership also has a 2003 toyota highlander limited with 121k miles for the same price. How would you compare the Qx4 with the highlander? In terms of reliability and durability.

And lastly, ive read somewhere during random reading that the 2000 QX4 is slightly more reliable than the 2001 and others. Is that correct?

Thanks again for all the help.

Its clean but dealer usually sell bit more then private/small dealer. Is the qx4 dealer serviced? I think the price seem good.

Go for it

Clean retail on nada is $10,575, I have a 2001 and am starting to have issues. Nothing major I hope but issues. I am pushing 124,000 miles.

Thanks for the replies.

Prem,I am not sure if its dealer serviced. The guy told me that the previous owner traded it in and they are not sure what the previous guy did.

Sixty4Could you please tell what kind of problems you are having? I though QX4s were extremely reliable and durable and will last a long, long time without problems. Are the problems you are having normal or are due to any particular reason?

Also, could you guys please try to answer my other questions as well? Especially, if the price is a little too high. I dont know if I should go by nada or kbb in todays economy. The Selling prices are obviously less than the book values everywhere. Also, when I was buying the first Q in late november, a lot of folks here suggested that I could get an 01 for around 7000.

Also, should I consider the 03 highlander limited with 121k miles for the same price? Anything better w.r.t. reliability and durability?

Thanks for the help.

Ok. Toyota highlander ruled out. Will stick with QX4....

The one in the link is for 9000 and is an 01 ands got 107k miles. Is it too much? Its also only a 2WD. Not that I need a 4WD but shouldnt it be cheaper than 9k with only a 2WD. I think electronic 4wd is the major USP of the QX4 against the pathy. And this one does not have that.

$9000 is way to much dough. Keep looking!!! If you can afford to wait the deals are out there. Not to compare, but just a side note. I bought my 2003 QX4 with 53K miles all options except Navigation and rear spoiler for $10,300 4 months ago. I had to drive 4 hours to get it but it was well worth the traveling time to the dealership outside Pittsburgh. 107K miles is not that much but for your price range I am sure you could find one with 80K miles. Happy hunting!

That sounds like a very good deal.

I went to the Smith Infiniti delearship on tuesday. They kept giving me the runaround when I asked for he carfax on the phone since it was a 3 hr drive but I thought, its an infiniti delearship so thats ok and i'll just go there.

So I drove down there and looked at the car and it "looked" very clean and good. They were still refusing the carfax but after I insisted, they gave me one and it had an accident a couple of years back. That and the fact that the transmission wasnt smooth threw me off. It was beautiful and took me a lot of guts to walk away.

But I just found another one and it looks very good. Below is the link if you guys could take a look at it.

http://www.advantagecars.com/d...anced

They are stating that they would take 10500 out the door for it.

Does it seem good? Its in houston and thats a 12 hour drive from where I am. Its carfax is clean and mileage is good at only 79k. Does it seem good? They also have an 03 white pathy for the same price but with only 54k miles.

Incidentally, they do have a F rating with the BBB if thats of any significance.

Theres another one in Clear Lake, TX, which is an 01 with 89k miles which I could have for 8500. Its silver and pretty neat.http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/...false

Any advice? What do you guys think?
