help with burnt out tach signal

My tach used to work fine when I was runnign a KA in my 240 but when I swaped the SR in, the tach never worked. i took it to my local nissan shop and was told that the 12v signal from the ecu was grounded out. I have a avcr and safc that both can read my rpm's but really need my tach to work....Any ideas would be great. Also I have tried both my dohc and 180sx tach, neither work???

If you had a KA24E the tach wont work with a DOHC motor. Im guessing your 240 is a 89 or 90?

he said he tried a dohc tach and it didnt work...i put in a ecu on my car and the tach didnt work..put in another ecu and it did so it could be your ecu..check your connections as well though you may have missed something
