Hello,

My car (2003 G35, 4D 2WD) has been making continuous grinding noise since last evening. It freaked me out a little bit. I called up the infiniti dealership and they quoted me 1200 CAD for parts + labor...and also that they r booked until the end of next week...this includes replacing all 4 rotors and all break pads. My local mechanic is booked until wednesday and he suggested that i get him the parts and he'll hook it up for 120-150 CAD.

I found a couple of deals online and was wondering if these are decent rotors and pads. I do not want to spend a fortune but I don't want to put in crappy parts as well.

Here are the links to the deal I found

Also, with the grinding noise, is it unsafe to drive the car for 3-4 days? I did notice increased breaking distance and drove very cautiously today.

I live in Montreal which seems to be the mecca for G35's...can someone local refer me to a auto shop from where i can pick up parts instead of buying it online and waiting for delivery.

Thank you all in advance.

sounds like you are metal on metal. did you hear squeaking before this? the squeaking is of course indicative of worn pads. normally you would not want to run the pads down that much for fear of warping the rotors. but since you are replacing them anyways, thats not a concern. the concern then would be safety. you do not have the same stopping power so dont tailgate and be careful.

Thanks Timmy!!!

My mechanic had a look today and mentioned that the rear pads and rotors should be changed...the front ones r still good. I am not gonna drive the G over the weekend and i'm getting the brake fixed 1st thing monday morning before i head to work. Also getting my winter tires on.
