Well, I was fortunate enough to jump on a boot for sale from another NICO 'vert owner.

It's great!

But, I'm having trouble getting it to install properly. I know this thread is worthless without pics, so I will follow up later...

The snaps are easy enough to figure out... But, I can't get the front to attach to the area right behind the seat.

My boot has a little strip of cloth with a long horizontal clip sewn on. It would seem that it should fold down and secure to the metal bar behind the rear seat back. But, mine doesn't fold down at all.. it seams to be very convinced that it doesn't want to fold down... It's like the bar behind the seat should be different....

What am I missing??? Does the boot even secure there? Or just the snaps?

thanks

a ziploc style strip. I promised someone mine on here but I haven't yet found it... I have boxes of crap lying around but yeah... it isn't ont here really well so I'd guess it would pretty commonly be missing or lost.

yeah... ziplock style. that's a good description.

Mine has that.. but I can't get it to fix to anything... I can't seem to fold it down far enough to fix to the metal bar.

there should be a plastic retaining strip that fits over that metal piece I think your talking about behind the seat. the ziploc-like piece on the boot then clips into that and not the metal. The plastic strip hpl;ds down the bag along one edge that the roof folds into.

Think it's at a different angle than the metal piece so that would probably explain why you cant get the boot to clip to that... not sure if what I said makes sense, to you or not, but I've had that piece off a few times for various stuff

mine never stayed ziploced to that strip and when it did it often pulled the strip off the bracket that it mounts on... its just a poor design but it won't hurt anything, just make sure its securely fastened to the snaps.

ahh... So I am missing a piece. That makes so much more sense now.

I'll have to keep my eyes open for a parts car that might have that piece.

Or.. figure out how to fabricate something. I'm just afraid that the snaps won't hold... I'd hate to have that expensive little boot come flying off on me.

Thanks for the input guys!!!

EDIT... Can someone take a photo of this part for me? It would be really helpful to see it so that I know what I'm aiming for.

I wouldn't worry about the snaps not holding, I've been at least 75mph on the highway without anything even trying to lift.Mine is apparently missing whatever the heck you guys are talking about from before I bought mine, so I've just been using the snaps.

I just got my boot on today (Arrived Monday but rain and illness postponed deployment until today).

I too am having trouble with attachment, and I think I'm missing something like that strip.

NIssanconvert, when you say you've driven up to 75 MPH, I'm also presuming that you tucked the edges--pretty much all the way around the outside of the boot--into and under the trim around the top. Am I correct?

I'm actually missing a snap but by "tucking and snapping" I managed to hit 75 on I-40 tonight with no problems.

I'd also like to say that I LOVE this forum--you've answered so many questions!

Now, if I could just find some reasonably priced S14 seats I'd be in GREAT shape.

eh back when I had a boot cover I can tell you that strip would stay attached for about 5-10 minutes.. I had mine up to 110 and over and I never had any problems.

Then again, thought the manual advises against it, I've had it up to 110 and over without the boot cover and with the top down and I suffered no ill effects.
