Help with antenna removal(nonpowered)

I'm sorry if this has been asked many times before, but I have searched through many forums and looked through repair manuals and I just can't seem to figure out how to take off the antenna. I feel like an idiot asking this question but once i take off the retaining nut im stuck. I have no idea how to take it off after that. I know it cant be hard its just something im not seeing. Oh and its an 89 hatchback if it makes any difference.
