So Iv'e had my '09 Versa for a week and couldn't live without sirius radio so I ordered a cheap one from crutchfield with a direct antenna adapter. To connect the adapter I needed to take out the radio. I got the radio out easy enough but rather then take out the airbag light (as suggested here) I unplugged it. The instructions from crutchfield didn't warn about unplugging the connectors. So now the aribag light on the fuel gauge is blinking red. Do I now have to bring it to the dealer and have him reset the code? Is there another way to reset it. I have an OBDII code reader but it does not work on this car. Every time I go to read the codes I get an error. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I don't know how to fix the problem, but if you are needing to know the code you can always take it to an AutoZone before dark and they will give you the code as a free service. I think Advance Auto Parts does this as well. You just have to get there before dark because they won't do it at night for security reasons.

Try this. It worked perfectly for me when I installed my new deck.

FOUND A SOLUTION! As long as the airbag hasn't ACTUALLY been depolyed, this will reset the system.1.Turn the key from off to on.2. Watch the airbag light closely. It will stay on for a few secs. and then as soon as it blinks off (the start of the flashing), turn the key to acc instantly.3. Count to 5 (1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi . . . .)4. Repeat steps 1-3 two more times until you have done the cycle three times.5. Now turn the key on and watch the light. It will start blinking in a different, slower manner. This is diagnostic mode. You can watch this for a little while, no hurry.6. Now turn the key off again, Count to 5 like in step 3 again, and turn back on. If the procedure worked, the airbag light will not be flashing.

After I completed step 4 and turned the ignition back on, the light quit flashing without the need for step 5 & 6

That does work, the wife had it done, and they did the same thing, and autozone cant clear it, i guess its different or something.

on a side note, after that happened the passenger off switch does not go off with no passanger, does yours still work after that?

YES! THANK YOU! I changed my head unit this past week and took out the air bag connector (like how we're not supposed too). This solution also fixed the driver window from automatically coming up using the switch.thanks again!

Kang R U saying that doing the key sequence caused your driver's side window to not auto up anymore? I haven't done it yet and if it will disable my auto up I won't do it since that is one of my favorite features of the V.Thanks

I also unplugged the connector in the dash to do a radio install because it just to cramp to leave it hanging attached. But i just brought my car in to the dealer and was like air bag light came on and they cleared it for free even after seeing the deck installed in there so i dunno its worth a shot haha

Even if it did, it's an easy fix. Run the window down, then run it up with the button held for about 6-10 seconds after it's up and it'll work fine again.

Well I did it and it worked. However like dave my "no passenger light" does not work. I can live with that however. When I bring her in for a first oil change I will mention it and see what they say. Thanks shadow for the information. not having a "no passenger light" sure beats the red flashing airbag light.

does the light come on during bulb check of the gauge cluster just before you start the vehicle? if so then it is working properly the light comes on during bulb check then turns off after a set amount of time. normal operation.

I was in the same situation as stated in the original post! Had it for 2 days, ripped out the dash, installed a deck correctly, and bam, freaking flashing light! Nissan dealership said they'd have to hook it up to a laptop and scantool, etc. and it would take an HOUR to fix! Yeah right, this worked perfectly! Thanks!!!
