hello all -I finally found my son's Xmas present - 1996 240SX - I've been trolling these boards for the past two weeks!! We just got it today - it needs new tires and rims - My question is what size kit or whatever do we need to be looking for? 17? What would a sixteen year old want on it?

Help me make this his best xmas ever! He knows NOTHING about this -- He is visiting his dad in TN and I have all week to do what needs to be done.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated - BTW, the "buyers manual" for 240s was great! Also learned alot from the "detailing instructions" - My better half is washing and buffing right now!

Thanks for your help!Cindy Ryanhttp://www.boatworks.net

how much are you looking to spend? I would get 17's if i were you. Whatever you get might look a little funny since theres gonna be a big wheel gap.

Not to be negative, or an a$s; but perhaps a 16 year old would prefer professional driving instruction. For the money wasted on "bling" factor, he could get some quality defensive driving under his belt and not wrap his present around a tree showing off to his friends. And by professional driving instruction, I don't mean state mandated driving lessons, but real, three day skill enhancing, helmet wearing lessons.

As far as wheels, "performance oriented" drop of an inch and a half or so and some suitable 16's would/does looks very nice.

hello

I don't know about Virginia but I have lived in MS all my life and never have I seen that type of instruction offered - the only thing close would be the Drivers Ed program he took last year in school . . .

but, back to my original question - All around the tire treads on the vehicle are separating and it is missing a back rear hubcap - This is a priority - I just don't want to buy something to be safe and it turn out to not be want he would want to begin with - he can buy "bling" after some of the necessities are taken care of. We are thinking of buying 17s with Enkei rims - or should we get the 18s? The car is black with 4-lugs - so should we go with gunmetal or chrome or what? Does anyone have any pictures of their wheels/tires?

Thanks in advance!Cindy Ryanhttp://www.boatworks.net (to see what everyone with a need for SPEED needs in their garage!)

Personally, I think 18s are a bit much, some people use them, 17s are fine. 5zigen fn01r-c's are great looking
