I've decided im going to get another 240, and found this one http://miami.craigslist.org/md....html. The guy sent me a bunch more pics and it looks super clean. I see these posted for sale on this site and others for around the same price (not many for sale anymore). Is this as cheap as a kouki is going to be now? I just find it hard to want to part with 7k for a 10 year old car, but I'm probably going down there wednesday to pick it up. Does this seem like a reasonable price? Thanks.

No, They Just Pick Up 240's And Sell Them To Fanboi's For 3x's The Price The Payed.

You Can Find Them Regularly For 5-6k.

Dealers are ALWAYS overpriced. Offer him no more than 6K if it's in pristine condition, take it, or leave it. I wonder if it has a salvage title, or something not good.

If you were to look for that exact 240 on California craigslist, that car would be posted up for around 8k-9k.. Best prices I've seen have been 4k-5k.

Yeah that place is a terrible mark up. But that is a factory luxury edition with low miles and a manual transmission which is very rare. For that reason i would pay what they are asking. If you dont care about the miles or the fact that it is a LE then i would hold out for something much cheaper.

wtf? you better buy that asap if it is really what it seems like. that car might not be "worth" 7k technically but the going rate on them is damn high. i've seen them listed on craigslist for over 10k in that condition. 7k is private party value if you ask me so get it before someone else does...i would love to get it.

Thats what I'm thinking. I really don't care if they make a profit off me (thats what they are in business for). I'm thinking worst case, I could hopefully sell it for pretty much what I paid for it in a few years if I get tired of it again (if its kept stock and clean). I'm just worried that I'm paying 7k for an 11 year old car that's not going to be worth anything in 2 years. I just can't find any 5spd kouki's at all for sale on any site right now. I've been looking for 2 1/2 months now with no luck.

Not the best price, but not the worst either. Cheaper ones exist of course but will you be able to stumble upon one AND get it before everyone else? So I'd say if everything checks out it is pretty reasonable, esp when its LE and 5 spd. Try negotiating, of course.

I agree try to negotiate. 5 speed koukis are very hard to find. I looked for a clean one for months and ended up getting an auto. They only made 1232 240s total in 1998. I would reason that less than 100 were LEs and 5 speeds. Take into account that was twelve years ago and that number is even lower. A true Kouki is rare enough, but a 1998 5speed LE in good shape is almost like finding a 4 leaf clover. I wouldnt be worried about it losing value.

that is as cheap as you can get!!

people stop saying there are cheaper ones that exist...well yes but if they did exist so commonly then no one would be complaining about price of koukis would they? 7k is great, and i am pretty confident you would be able to get 7k back for it in 2 years as long as you keep it fairly stock.

If I were you man, I'd jump on that right now. 5-spd kouki's nowadays are ULTRA rare, I dont care what anyone says. Not only that, its a 98 AND its LE! ... and $7k for that condition?!! whaaaaa...... I've seen 98 5spd LE's go well beyond 10k. You better get to it before someone beats you to the punch (LIKE ME)

Majority of the cars they sell over there are rebuilt. Id check the vin first if i was you. And if it is, stay away, i learned that the hard way.

Why though? If done properly wouldn't it be the same?

A friend of mine's dad owns a salvage yard... So I use to rebuild my own cars... Getting a car for $500 is unbeatable But that's the thing... I was rebuilding it myself.. It's sad but all it takes to total a car most of the time... especially older ones, is destroying the front bumper along with the fenders... That's all that was wrong with my dsm.. took us 3 days to repair it and i drove it for 7 months with no problems except for an alternator until some high schooler t-boned me as I was turning onto a road. People tend to rush through things if they're doing it just to make a buck. If you're getting a rebuilt salvage, the best thing to do would be try to find out what type of accident it was in and what caused it to be totaled. Then inspect the previously damaged areas. Either way... Best of luck to you.
