My car does not overheat. The temp at the thermostat intake tube is 182F with an infra red temp gun. At the coolant temp sensor it is about 175F. Car has stock thermostst.

I replaced the coolant temp sensor and checked the ohms with a digital VOM in a heated pot of water before installing. All ohm readings in spec per the manual.

Engine has code 55 in the ECU

The fans operate at low speed and high speed.

Problem I am having is with car warmed up to normal *about 180F) with AC on the high speed fans come on when temps are as noted above about 180F. Per the service manual the high speed fans should not come on until 203F at the coolant temp sensor with car less than 50 mph and idle. What else can I check to resolve the high speed fans from coming at to low a temp? What about the relays could they be providing a complete circuit but not at the correct temp? How do you remove the plastic tops from each relay to check relay circuit?

Thanks

the fans come on with the ac on to pull air through he condenser. that way you have cold ac. do they come on with the ac off?

I am aware that the fans draw air thru the condenser and the radiator core to remove heat. As I stated in my post the fans come on at high speed with the AC on with coolant temp at about 180F. The problem is with AC on the fans run at high speed when the temp of the coolant is 180F. This is below 203F which is the temp that the factory service manual states fans should come on in high speed mode.

BTW with the AC off the fans come on in low speed mode with engine warmed up to 180F.

Can you provide help to correct or diagognose this high speed fan operation coming on at to low a temp?

Thanks

why do you think this is a problem? running at a lower temp(160-180) is better for performance and engine life. when did you buy your car? possible that the previous owner put a 180* thermostat?

Simple as I noted above in posts because with AC on the fans are on high speed at 180F coolant temp and the service manual states that fans should be on low speed unless the coolant temp is 203F.

maybe the switch on your fans is faulty? i wouldn't worry about it at all since it's running fine and not overheating.
