I just had my front and rear windows tinted with 3M tint at a local shop and he said that there is a common problem that sometimes affects Infiniti M35/45's where the dashboard electronics won't work for a while. He said this is due to the wet adhesive needed to apply the tint to the back windows and it is just a temporary, 1/2 day to day problem until the tint dries. Well, of course it happened and I wanted to know if anyone else ever had this "common" problem? I'm pissed he didnt warn me ahead of time!

I had the side windows front and rear tinted, as well as the rear window. I had no problems at all. As far as the "front window", I am assuming you do not mean the front windshield. If the windshield was tinted then I am guessing water got into the dashboard electronics and that must be your problem. I also had a clear bra put on the front end, under the door handles, outside mirrors, and on the top of the rear bumper. Very hard to detect and great for preventing "road rash".

Assuming you're not talking about the windshield , I would say that your installer is full of c**p. I've owned 8 cars over the years that have had the windows tinted, including my 2007 M35X. Never a problem, never a mention of water getting in to the electronics.

Let us know how you make out.

Hello,Many here went with Huper Optik specifically to avoid the problem of interference. And superior performance. What kind of 3M film are you using?Cheers,ML

Sorry for the confusion. I had the front side, rear side, and rear window tinted...of course not the front windshield!! Also, the word interfering was misleading...I should have written malfunctioning. What the problem was is that the entire dashboard computer was basically in a safe mode: I couldn't control any of the audio functions or any of the air conditioning, etc. I did some poking around under the rear windshield and he had soaked the back of the car and I think part of the "computer brain" is back there (not sure) and the water made it malfunction/go into a safe mode with Audio off.

I've had 3M many times and no interfering with radio or GPS signal. Everything is fine this morning and the tint does not interfere with anything. However, I'm never going back to that *SS again. He was recommended by a shop I love, but its 50+ miles away and I asked them to refer someone. I'll just trek it back to them next time!!
