Hey NICO, my 240sx with a sr20 starter is acting up. I need to crank it for like 6 to 8 seconds for it to start. So my question is will a normal 240 starter work for a sr20 motor.thanks

No, but you can swap the guts of a single cam (hitatchi?) starter into the housing of the sr starter. There is a whole thread on this. Called DIY: rebuilding your sr starter or something similar

And what does the starter have to do with having to crank your engine over for 6 - 8 seconds for it to start?

ohh sorry, not cranking the engine but it takes at least 6 to 8 seconds for it to start. I know its the starter because i checked and sometimes it get power and sometimes it doesn't.

Thanks for the quick reply, and ill look in to the dyi sr starter rebuild.

Hmm okay well just make sure it's the starter before you go taking it out and everything. I would check to make sure the connections arnt loose first, etc. Just make sure you disconnect the battery first so you don't weld your wrench to the frame by accident haha
