help (weird line)

Car: 1991 nissan 180sx

I just purchased a 1991 180sx and am going to install a new exhaust. im wondering what the half inch or less line is, thats coming out of exhaust and goes into the floor behind the drivers seat is . its a metal line and it goes into a steel fitting that was welded on the exhaust.
