so i bought some new crappy silicon vacuum hose from autozone for my wastegate and compared the strength, or their resistence to collapsing rather, to some "high end" silicon hose my friend has on his rx7. it seemed to hold up just about the same, but now my wastegate is staying open too long when i close the throttle, and i know it's because my damn hoses are collapsing because i popped the hood and looked at them and they are collapsed (under like 12 psi vacuum, at about 1000 rpm, give or take a little). so anyway what are you guys doing to prevent this? what kind of vacuum hose do you have? i am most likely going to go to home depot and get some small copper pipe and construct my wastegate lines out of that or something comparable in strength. just curious what everyone else does... ps. my wastegate has 2 lines (one for boost side, and one for manifold (for vacuum)) so it opens under boost and vacuum... obviously the boost side is no problem unless it were to pop off or something, because the lines don't collapse under boost. the problem i am having is that if i close the throttle and then step on it the wastegate stays open and so there is a long wait time before it closes and the turbo sools and gives me air. sometimes, if i close it and then open the throttle abruptly it will bog and sputter a little. i know it's because of the wastegate because i can hear the damn thing staying open... right now my external wastegate is just vented (we haven't connected it to the downpipe yet) so whenever i give it throttle i can hear the loud *** exhaust coming out of the wastegate because it's still open. anyway thanks for the help.

what do you mean it has these two lines one for boost one for the manifold. im assuming its a wastegate like tial. the port on the side is what you hook up to a vaccuum source. the port on the top is ONLY used for electronic boost controllers. otherwise dont touch it. this is most likely your problem. plus the manifold and boost lines you have would be seeing almost the same thing.

well it's like a turbonetics one my brother has... right now, because i'm waiting on my intercooler the "boost side" vacuum port (the one i commonly see hooked up to the intercooler piping, or the one you say is for ebc's) isn't hooked up, so as of right now that can't be the problem. the only one hooked up is the manifold vacuum one(the one on the side). i wasn't sure about the other one's hok up either so i was going to look into it before hooking it all up.

i know that the stupid lines are just collapsing, and that's the problem, i just wanted to see if other people run into this and what they do about it. the copper gas lines i got look like they will be an easy fix... i'll just insert them into the vacuum lines, so there is no way the silicon will collapse around it... also i will be double covered just in case there is a leak or anything like that.

are you sure that the "boost" port ( the one on the top) is only for ebc's? what about mbc's? i can't cut vacuum to the wastegate by splicing and hooking the mbc to the manifold vacuum port because then under vacuum (closed throttle) the thing wouldn't open. it made sense to me that under boost both would be working and under vacuum only one would be working... but i've never used a wastegate with 2 ports on it either.

umm anyway so you're saing that the top port stays open and is not used at all unless you have an ebc? please help me understand better. thanks
