im buying a 240sx w/ a sr20det but the guy has told me he cant start it.Here's what he said:

"The battery is charged up good, and I have some jumper cables.

The car has been setting since the summer of 2005. I had it started in Nov. 2007. The last time I tried to start it in Jan 2008

I think it was out of gas and it would not start. I put 4 gal of gas in it Thursday and I could not get it to start as of yesterday, it will crak but will not start.

If you still want to look at it let me know so we can get together. It may have to be towed to a machanic to get it running.

It does run well, I have ridden in it."

how much could it be o fix?and what do you think could be wrong? Thanks!

If its been sitting since summer 05', then the gas in the fuel lines has also gone bad. Even though you have put fresh gas in the tank, the fuel in the lines is fouled. Try and get the old gas out of the lines then with the new gas try and start it.

A number of things could be wrong with it.... can't really tell but yes the fuel lines are probably shot ^^

Try disconnecting the fuel line to the intake and have a buddy catch the old fuel in a container. Turn the key and let the pump prime. You might get lucky after you pump a gallon out of the system.

No there is a clamp it is on the top of the motor and it only requires a philips screw driver. Look on the intake it is the hose that goes to the fuel pressure regulator. Your regulator is on your fuel rail and your injectors are attached to that..let me see if i can find a pic brb!

After you drain the gas replace your fuel filter with a new Z32 fuel filter, there wasn't alot of old gas in the tank originally was there? If so you might just want to remove the pump and sending unit. Then pump out the tank and replace with fresh gas then purge your lines and replace the filter.

Being mechanically inclined is really not needed to do either one of those procedures, and most mechanics charge between 55-75 an hour and don't know jack when it comes to the sr. Maybe you should look at a different car the sr needs some one who can work on it.
