hey guys,

I just bought a black on black 2004 y34. I dropped it w/ tein s-tech springs last week and am in the process of getting rims. I am looking at the work varianza schwert sc1 20" rims. I've been doing a lot of research, but there are only a handful of examples out there. I am going to go w/ 20x10 in the rear, but can't decide on 20x8.5 or 20x9 in the fronts. there is less than 1/2 inch clearance between the inner part of the stock rim and the shock absorber in the front. I've seen mmark's setup, it's sweet, but a bit too aggressive for my daily driver. here's what I was initially thinking:

rear 20x10 +40front 20x8.5 +30

I want them to tuck in nice and don't mind rolling the fenders. 1) can I get more aggressive w/ the offsets without having to mess with the camber too much? If so, how much?2) What is the difference btwn going w/ 9 vs 8.5 in the fronts. looks wise and steering wise?3) If I go w/ 20x9 what offsets would you recommend given the limited clearance btwn the rim and shock?

thanks guys, I love this car. I came from a g35coupe, but they are a dime a dozen nowdays. I've only seen 1 other y34 this year and I am in socal.

I would think that the closer you get to +30mm would achieve what you are going for. That is a pretty conservative offset to use and worst case scenario, you might need to slightly roll the fenders.

Congrats on the car and springs I'm running close to what you are after (note my specs in the sig below) I'm liking the front offset of 30mm and you could probably go 9 wide in the fronts depending on your tire size selection. I'm at 9.5 in the rear and I'm damn close to rubbing, now that 10 wide in the rear with a 40mm concerns me a little. I'm curious to learn about your tire size selection. A good fender roll may be in your future. good luck my man!

I think the front at 30mm is likely to a problem with 9" width wheels - given my recent look inside the wheel well! I'd reduce that down to 25mm for sure (if not more), since the original poster does not mind rolling the fenders.

The rear at 40mm, with a 10" width wheel is also going to be a problem, IMHO. I'd do 30mm as a maximum there, and it may still be a tight fit. If you do 25mm (safer), then you will need a fender roll for sure, since you also have a drop.

I'd also recommend doing a careful fitment test ...

As always, please check out the possible tires that are available for those widths (please don't stretch! you will negate the handling and performance of the car) and see if their load index is appropriate for the weight of the car. I suspect that this will limit your options a lot.

Wondering what you guys would recommend for rear tire fitment if you were to put 20x10 offset 25 with rolled fenders? 275...265... or even lower? Would a 35 or 25 offset be preferable? Would there possibly be any fitment issues on the inside of the tires from brake or suspension components? Thanks.
