help w/ engine light on

i own a 97 240sx se, i bought it from a tuner shop and originally it was an automatic, but i had them convert it to a 5 speed. but they put a 95 transmission in it. so i was wonderin if i got a obd1 ecu would i be able to get rid of the engine light? they tried to get rid of it but its still on! someone else tested and it def. is a transmission sensor code, but im not sure of the code. someone said theres something different about the trannys or something i forget.... please let me know.....thnx
