Hi everyone,

I checked my transmission fluid a about two weeks ago and it was about two inches above the full mark on the dip stick and I drained some out to try to get it to the correct level. I just changed the fluid completely ( I drained, then took off the pan and changed to filter). I then put back in 8 quarts because that is what the book said, but it is still about two inches above the full mark when the car is hot.

Is the level supposed to be this way on the dip stick or is there too much in there again?

The car shifts O.K. but occaisionally the car jumps into second gear.

Please help. I don't want to cause transmission problems.

Thanks,

Geoff.

Draining and pulling the pan doesnt drain all the fluid ..

I had the same problem when I got my J.I drained about a quart and all was well.

Draining the pan will only yield about 4 quarts at the max... About half the fluid is inside the tranny......

If you feel heat emanating from around the transmission shifter console/tunnel. Its usually an indiaction you have overfilled your tranny along with lazy shifting.
