This is a weird electrical problem! I have an 95 Altima. Here is what happens: with the car turned off, if I hit the brake petal the driving lights and interior lights come on! And when the headlights are turned on, the brake lights are on all the time. No headlights, brake lights work normally. I cleaned the battery terminals and disconnectd the battery. I'm guessing this might be a switch attached to brakes somehow?

Did you reciently change any bulbs? it's possible (and usually the cause) that it's the wrong filament/bulb (sp?) IIRC, it should have 2 silver dots ( : ) and if there's 1 dot on the new bulb ( . ) then there's the problem... Good luck!

I did notice that one of the headlights was loose. I put it back into the socket and it's working fine. Although i did change a brake lamp bulb a while back. I'll check and see if that's it.

it will most likely be the brake light you changed... double check the bulb, and compare it to another... again, it's usually the cause
