I can't seem to remove the turbine wheel and shaft. I also need help separating the turbine housing from the CHRA. I have a can of PB Blaster to use on it. Good idea? Bad idea?

Any suggestions would be helpful!

you need both the compressor and turbine housing off before you can do this. For the turbine wheel and shaft you need to remove the nut that holds the compressor wheel on there.... then twist the comp. wheel as you pull up on it. Once you get that off you need to GENTLY tap the top of the turbine shaft with a rubber mallet to pop it out of there.(turbine housing has to be off) It just slides through the middle section.

For the turbine housing... make sure all bolts are removed and if you have a torch heat the housing up a bit and tap it a few times with a hammer to break any rust loose. Just keep working at it and it will come off.

I managed to find this webpage on a Saab T25 tear down and rebuild:

http://photo.platonoff.com/Aut...build/

I used some PB Blaster on the side of the CHRA where the turbine is situated. Now, I've got another problem. There are a total of 3 bolts that holds one of the retaining brackets to the turbine housing. I've manage to loosen 2 of the 3. The middle bolt happens to be situated under the CHRA oil inlet. The middle bolt is also rounded on the side that is most accessible by a 13mm open ended wrench.

Question:

Can I "clock" or turn the CHRA enough to allow better access to the middle bolt?

Take a look at the pic.

You sure that's the oil inlet? Looks kind of big. If it is, I don't have an easy answer. If it's the oil outlet a 6" Ridged heavy duty pipe wrench with a 1' , 3/4" pipe extension will get that sucker out. Need to get a new bolt, though. If you don't have the clearance and you can't get it to budge with a chisel aimed tangentially at the bolt head you'll have to cut the head off with a cut-off tool and then once the cartridge is removed take the stud out with the aforementioned pipe wrench.

I believe you are correct about the oil outlet. Seems more troublesome to approach it the way you mentioned, however, I believe it to be effective as well.

Does anyone know if I can turn the CHRA while it's still in the turbine housing? I've PB Blasted it earlier today to loosen it up.

yes you should be able to rotate the turbine housing... loosen all the bolts as much as possible.... and maybe give it a few taps to break it loose. GOOD LUCK!

Got it done, finally.

Anyone care to comment on the condition? Obviously, it's toast. I was thinking of getting it blasted to remove the carbonized gunk. I will put in an order for a T25 bearing and seal kit by the end of this week.
