help trans swap?

i just got a 92 vert thats been well taken care of for the last ten years. The guy i got it from was going to do a 5 speed swap, the car has the clutch pedal already installed an i have all the parts to do the swap(minus some bolts and a clutch) but im a little nervous cuss the trans been sitting out side under a tarp for the last five years! i dont know if i should put it in our get another one. Any ideas anyone????

5 years lol, i wouldnt think it would go bad but i would look for another one first

Give it a good flush and toss it in the car. I bet it's fine.

If not, then pull it out and get another. But it would be stupid to buy a new trans when you may have a perfectly good working unit already in hand.

I know you're worried about the time and energy and don't want to do it twice, but rest assured... it's way easier the second time. It won't be so bad.

I agree with Eikon. I would also change the front and rear seals before install.

hey thanks everyone, i guess i will flush it and hope for the best. i just hate not knowing the history of the trans also after five years weather and any type of metal not a good combo. i was worried about rust inside the trans. I guess there built to withstand weather so im worried about nothing but its always good to get an outside opinion. Thanks again!!

When you replace front seal, you will kinda see the inside, so you can check if there's any rust. Look at my write up in 5 speed swap thread page 8. I think it should be okay since gears have been covered with oil in closed aluminum case.
