HELP! transmission question!

My transmission will go into 1st through 4th but it won't go into 5th and reverse.Anyone know why?Clutch?Pressure plate?Throw-out bearing?Or is it the transmission itself?Let me know.Thanks!

broken shift fork, they share the same one. or maybe a broken roll pin that holds the fork in place.

Sounds like a synchro problem to me. Try putting it into 1st then reverse and see if it goes in. Putting it into first helps line up the synchros so it will change gears more easily. If that does not work then the synchros may be broken and you will need to rebuild the transmission or get a used/new one.

I was also wondering, does the 91-94(S13) or the 95-96(S14a) transmission will bolt up with a 97-98?Are the trannies interchangeable?Someone help?Thanks!O' and thanks to the guys who posted above!

Can anyone answer my question?I searched and haven't come up with anything about the 91-96 trannies vs. the 97-98.
