Help to Open 2009 Maxima Driver Door

Driver Door will unlock from keyfob and door buttons, will not open when attempts from pulling handle inside/out. Had door panel removed to check the chain because door has problems before, could only open by using inside handle. Had the chain reattached, All other doors open Could this be a security issue?

Repaired the cable from exterior door handle assembly broken at lock assembly end (will not clip into lock assembly) on 2009 Maxima driver door, repair successful door opened from outside and inside, now the door will not open at all, what could cause this?
