help to diagnose door lock issue

Hi! I'm a new owner of an old Cefiro (Nissan A32) from 1995.

I'm quite happy with the car, which is just in need of some love to come back to full glory

there are a couple issues with the door locking system:

1. the driver's door (front right, since I'm in NZ):
- with key: does not work (the key cannot turn) -> was picklocked?
- with remote control: everything works -> excludes problems with the actuators
- lock all doors button: works on all doors except driver's -> ???
- auto-lock system at speed: works on all doors except driver's -> ???

2. the passenger's door (left):
- with key: open/closes the door, but has no effect on central locking

What do you guys think?
could it be a mechanical issue in the driver's door preventing it to lock when you push the general button? but then why does it work with the remote?

PS: pushing on the driver side locking lever works: the central locking engages and all the doors lock
