hi, i live in winnipeg, canada. it's really cold here. i know when it's cold it is hard to shift into gears. however, just two days ago, the gears seems unshiftable with engine on(or hard to shift, you should hammer it) , and it can be shift into any gear smoothly when the enigne is off. the gear box seems worked fine two days ago. do you know what's the problem? thanks

Sounds like the clutch hydraulics are going. Check to see if the slave cylinder is leaking and if it is not, the clutch master sounds bad.

A more rare problem is that the springs on the clutch disc or on the pressure plate break and jam things, but most likely it is the master or the slave

Under the hood, the Clutch master is the small resivwor (sp) next to the (brake) master. (driverside on the firewall). Check the fluid level. If it is low, look up the wall behind the pedals, if it is wet then the clutch master is shot.

the clutch slave isnt as easy to get at. it is mounted to the trans on the passenger side. Small, thing about 3" long. (http://www.jspec.com/nismosc.html) You will see a line running to it. see if it or the line is wet. They are both easy to install, tho the CS is hard to get at unless you have jackstands(dont work alone!)

To be honest, if fluid is low, just replace both, nissan reccomends replacing them as a pair, only cost me $80 for both.
