I was driving my 240 the other day and it had been running like crap for the past couple of days(sputtering, backfiring, etc.). Yesterday I was driving it home and as I was pulling on to my street it just died. I stopped, took the key out of the ignition, put it back in, and tried to start it and it kicked over once and died. The car was getting power, but the starter wouldn't even kick on! So then, i went to open my hood and as i opened it a bunch of white smoke came out. Please, somebody help! Could my engine be seized? What would I need to do to fix it if so? By the way my car is a 1990 240sx Fastback with the KA24E motor and it is a manual transmission. Any help would be appreciated. Oh, if anybody knows of an online store that sells KA24DE's let me know also. Thanks.

See if you can find out where the white smoke came from. I suspect it's your starter. If your car sputters, backfires, etc. You may need, say a good tune up. I doubt it has seized, unless you never checked the oil and it's starving the engine of oil. Regardless, good luck, I'm sure it can't be that serious.
