My car has been overheating. It also has been very slow, since i got it. I replaced the Radiator, Water pump, thermostat, and I added FLEX A LITE fans....It is still overheating. Do i need a fan shroud?i dont have one.... It has been going through some coolant...But i havent found a leak...So im guessing the coolant is going into the engine, So im thinking its the headgasket.....=[ so i took my car in to my mechanic, it has some bubbles in the coolant. He took the head off of it, and it is warped. 850$ for a new headgasket/resurfaced head/ new valves............My question is, Does this have anything to do w/ my power loss? I lost to an automatic EXPEDITiON for petes sake.....I also barely beat a civic...Is the blown headgasket the reason for the HUGE loss of power?

it plays a roll in the cooling system. may not seem like it, but it helps controll the flow from the fan to the engine, helping with the pull effect. helps keep the air from running wild, even if you have an electric fan! you can find one at a pick and pull for less than 300.

with out a fan shroud your fan does not pull air just through the radiator it also pulls it from the space all around it, by having a fan shroud it makes the fan pull the air only from infront of the radiator. That is why the fan shroud is so close to the fan.
