does anyone know how to get a title?????? i bought this damn car and dude said i could register it w/out the title but i can't. dmv said since it's out of state i can't do a paperless transfer. this sucks. anyone from washington state that works at dmv that can help me out. i'm in norcal, the car is from washington. anyone do a lien before? how hard is that to do?

What you need to do is get the guy who sold you the car to call in his title lost/stolen, so he can get a replacement. If he won't do that, get a bill of sale from him for the car, take it to the DMV, and tell them that you purchased the car, but the previous owner lost the title.

If there's a lien on the car, you're kinda screwed... it means that someone wants money, and you won't be able to register the car until it's paid off. If that is the case, you need to confront the seller, do some research, and figure out who's screwing who.

All else fails, you can always do what my uncle did once... light the car on fire in the previous owner's front lawn... wasn't really effective at resolving the situation, but damn it made for a good s'more roast.
