My 92 NA won't start. Battery died completely so we replaced it. After replacement, it would turn over but not crank. Thought it was antitheft, so did the drivers door thing with the key, trunk key, unplugged battery for 2 hours, and unplugged the 2 plugs to the anti theft box by the ecu. Still nothing! Ecu diag gave a 55. I'm clueless!?!

You mean it cranks but won't turn over? Could be alot of things... do you hear the starter engage? Do you hear the fuel pump engage? Could be a weak starter, bad ground, fuel pump, fuel relay, a fuse...

It turns over but wont fire up. I have checked all the fuses. What ground are you referencing?

Any of them really, but how do your battery connectors look? If they're all crappy and frayed that could be an issue. Did you leave the security box unplugged? If I recall, leaving it unplugged essentially bypasses it. Did you happen to take the ecu itself out? Not tightening it down properly (grounding it) will cause issues. You never said if you could hear the fuel pump running when you turn the key to ON. Should sound like a small electric whine

Well, the real issue is it is in another state. My brother is selling it for me. I left it there to bring my TT project home, and he stays pretty busy. We reset the ECU, checked fusible link, and he is getting frustrated with me bothering him while he is working. So its getting towed to the mechanic this morning..... fingers crossed

Ok, so the shop said the cas. Should I just go for a used replacement, or is there something to try on the old one first?

You can get a used one pretty cheap, so you could get a good used one and see if it clears up the issue. If it does then you can get a new one down the line. You can check that the CAS is firing pulses to each injector like it should be turning it manually by hand... you should hear a click for each injector as it turns. The PTU could also be bad, which comes before the CAS. Do you have any info on the PTU, such as how new it is or if its the older or newer style?

No, unfortunately I don't, and since it is in another state, it makes things interesting. But I read that the CAS is cross compatible with TT/NA, so I'm sending the one of my motor since I'm still a few months away from mine running. Here's hoping

Forgot to update this... It was the cas. I sent the one off of my project TT and it's back working. Missed that sell tho, so it's still for sale! Getting anxious to start buying parts for mine, so somebody buy it!
