I have a 1991 Q45 Infiniti..my key is stuck in the ignition...the release button will not work...will start and run great but will not release the key...help...is there any way that I could remove the plastic around the steering column without hurting anything else? I see where I could take the first plastic piece apart, but am afraid if I do this ,I won't be able to get the other one off to see what's going on with the release button. Does anyone think it could be the release button or maybe it's the ignition itself??? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Or, if anyone could possibly refer me to a reliable
but reasonable shop that I could trust to do the work? I live in West Sacramento and do not know the area very well.

:welcome: to NICO!

The covers come off pretty easily. Just remove the screws from the bottom side and the covers come off in two peices each.

Also, try moving the shifter in and out of park a few times. The shift lock system is interconnected with the ignition switch... it keeps you from taking the key out unless the shifter is in "P"

Good luck!
