ok, i recently got a 1996 s14. everything is great on it but my clutch started to slip so i bought a clutch from pep boys. yea i know but i'm low on cash right now. we installed the clutch and made sure no oil got on the fly wheel or clutch. it has been slipping ever since we put it in. I'll get in the car and drive it for about 15 minutes with no slipping and then it will start slipping like crazy no matter what gear i'm in.. let the car sit for about an hour and get back in it is fine for 10 - 15 minutes then it starts to slip again. we did not change the rear main seal and someone said it may be my slave cylinder but i'm not sure..

PLEASE any input would be greatly appreciated!!

thanks

The only way I can think of it being the master or slave would be if its siezing in one position. Come to think of it I'm pretty sure the pedal would stay to the floor if this happened until it unsiezed. Other than that, did you resurface the flywheel? And if so did they recess the outer edge where the pressure plate bolts to? That helps a little to create more clamping force because the pressure plate is ”closer” to the clutch disc.

we didn't resurface the fly wheel but from what a few people have told me already it sounds like the slave cylinder which is pretty cheap luckily.. Still not sure if it's right tho so any mre input would be nice thanks

Should have resurfaced the flywheel that is your problem you probably had hotspots from the old clutch slipping and if the slave or master was out it wouldnt cause it to slip you wouldn't be able to get it in gear. Most likely youll need to get a new clutch now depending on how bad you smoked this one.

Did you replace the pressure plate as well? I would think flywheel being untrue would cause more of a judder on engagement but I guess it could cause slippage if heated enough.
