I hope someone here can figure out my problem or give me ideas. I have a 99 Infiniti i30 touring. A while ago I started to feel a hesitation,a miss almost as if the "carberatour" was not getting gas and it was on the verge of stalling, but ,thankfully NEVER stalls. Ok, you know when, the traction control system kicks on it "brakes" the engine thats the feeling. Also the traction control system lights up when I have that "miss" Well I took car to my trusted and good mechanic. He had the car for 3weeks and cant find the problem. The computer came back saying it was the coils,so,he changes them and that did not work, plus, the computer still said the coils (thankfully he took them out and did not charge one penny for the labor) hence the problem is still there.
I though electrical because the TCS light up most times I feel this happening. Someone else tells me it might be the catalytic converted, clogged. Anyway Three mechanics and nobody can find the problem.
Lets reiterate.
miss in the engine
changed coils didnt work
tsc light comes on most of the time that it happens
nobody can find the problem
IM GETTING STRESSED OVER IT cause my car is mint an original with 70k on it
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a 99 maxima and have never heard of/or saw a traction control light. Sounds like coil packs. Did he go through and change each one? If so that was like $500. Also what kind of spark plugs do you have? I know when I put bosch plugs in my car, it ran like total crap. NGK oem replacements.

Have him or whomever run a scan tool on the ECU and report the codes. Has the mechanic gone through the troubleshooting sections of the FSM for the codes that are registering?

Start with the basic checks. All sorts of crazy things do happen when the alternator is weak or failing. Make sure your battery connections are clean and tight and that the battery voltage is > 12.5 VDC with engine off. Then with engine running, 1200-1500 RPM, check that the alternator voltage is >13.9 VDC (spec is 14.1-14.7 VDC).

Regardless whether you battery and alternator are in good condition or not, you have to go to Autozone and the likes for a free OBD II scan and get a printout of the trouble codes. Report back so we can help you fix the problem.

Ok guysd thanx for all the feedback . Being I dont want to break my mechanics balls and have him scan it for me , I run a bodyshop(Maaco Autobody, "Americas bodyshop,we're not just cosmetics"...FAST PLUG....LOL) so I have a floating mechanic that comes here and dsoes work for us so tomorrow I am going to have him scan it and see what codes come up. This dilemma will just have to wait till after the weekend so for now thank you and enjoy your weekend. If any ideas pop into your heads keep em coming and again I will have it scanned either saturday or monday.
ciao all enjoy your weekend
