[1994 infiniti j30 190+]

ok fellow j owners, i hope someone can help me here, my car has recently started to make alot more engine clatter at about 1000 to 1500 rpm and it sounds really bad. i dont think i have starved the top end always change and check the oil and take care of it. im hopng that i dont need a new motor cause i dont have that kind of money at this time. if anyone has any ideas please let me know.

It may be the VTC solenoid. A very common age related issue.

its a very load clanking noise sounds like stuff is banging against each other. i know exactly what part you mean. if its the valve timing control solenoid im goin to be mad cause i just did my valve covers which means i got to do that all over again. and would dropping it make it go bad?
