Does anyone one know a Infiniti certified tech in the orlando areaworking independantly from the dealer....? I could really use thehelp with my q45, I love this car but they're just expensive to fix,and most other mechenics I feel don't know what seems to be thetrouble with my car.

I have a 1992 infiniti q45 v8 engine. The first place i took it too, they told me it might be an MAF problem, because the symptoms it hadat the time; I could accelerate but the car would not shift intothe next gear. But as soon as i released some pressure of the gas,the car would shift. And sometime a pop would be heard comingunderneath, sort of a catalyc converter type noise when i pressed onthe gas, after the RPMs went upwards to 4000/5000, the car wouldthen shift. The car drives fine when i first drive it in themorning. But after 30mins of driving, it just shuts down.

They changed the MAF but the problem was still there, they laterfound i hard bad knock sensors and that my exhuast was overheating. They changed the knock sensors and referd me to Midas for theexhaust.

Midas tested the car for free and found that, the exhaust was justfine and said that it could be a fuel pump problem. They however donot do fuel pumps and now am out about $2000.

BTW, this first started when i was driving from KC and I just turnedon the A/C.

Does anyone have any suggestions any import would be helpful to me.thanks,

Louis

Sounds like a fuel pump, kinda....

Can you hear humming from the rear of the car, like right behind the back seat.... If so, then this is most definitely it......

How far is Orlando from Atlanta? $2000 goes a lot further at T3!

I think its about 189 to 250 miles not sure, I will check. Now that i have read some many psot about T3, am pretty sure $2,000 would have gone far.But am already out that much, and I'm sure am not done yet.

I'm thinking about parting ways with it, even though i don't think i will ever enjoy a drive in another car after the q45.

I just got the car back today, but now the car has a rough idle. Like i can really feel it shaking in the cabin. when its not moving. Can anyone tell me what that could be, the repair guy told me it might need a tune up...? It didn't shake like that when i took there.

How expensive is a Lexus to maintain or compared to the Q45...? As far as parts etc, I know labour will be the same.thanks

It could be an injector......

Lexus and Q are about the same... The Q may be **slightly** more, but not a lot.... You definitely would enjoy a Q better....

This doesnt sound too complicated, and im sure that T3 would be able to get it done right.......

As I keep pointing out more Q are destroyed [damaged] by non technical local mechanics than almost any other reason.

They are pretty well lost WITHOUT a Consult, and not having a CONSULT tells you they don't do enough Nissan work to pay for one. Same with a FSM if they don't have one for your car how can they test anything...........

I know the Q as well as anyone in US and I read the manual everyday to check things. There is not a day that goes by when we don't have at least 1 90-96Q in the shop [we service close to a 750 between both shops].

Always go to the dealer, unless you have access to one of the few US specialty shops! Ask to see the Consult, ask to see your year manual..............that's the minimum test of quality.

As soon as I raise some money, I will take it in so they can check to see what i need to do to get it back in order.

There's gotta be someone else other than the dealer that can surely work on an infiniti in the city of Orlando.

Thanks out

It's a hard lesson to learn for the owner of any precision automobile that there are a lot more wrenches and people willing to use them than there are technicians truly qualified to use them.

There may or may not be a competent technician capable of servicing a Q45 in Orlando. Q45tech has given you some cues for which to look, but the best evaluator is built with the knowledge gained by reading the previous posts on this board. All posts by Q45tech are mandatory reading in this regard for anyone who really wants to understand the maintenance requirements of this (or any) automobile.

Well, there's only one in Orlando, & they're the ones who regrounded the MAF on my 91 for the previous owner with a *sheetmetal screw* and a 20 ga. wire into an available hole near the valve cover & replaced his rear brakes reusing the old wear indicator pigtail & didn't even adjust the parking brake while doing it.

Yup, bunch of hacks out there. Most techs these days are installers, not technicians, there's a diference. Only had one instance where a Consult was necessary, to appease Clark @ JWT with respect to an 96 OBD II GA16 200SX > SR20DET swap whereby the IACV was not programmed correctly on account of a single extra purple wire on the 1.6 harness. They gladly reprogrammed the ECU again & all was well.
