lol hey guys. i just joined this forum and i have a few questions..this is my first car and sorry if i ask things that are supposed to be common sense but I was just wondering: -are the brakes supposed to be this 'grabby'? i get the feeling that i'm slamming on the brakes even if i'm only lightly touching them and when i let go slightly, my car 'jumps.' it's really irritating. -i have the black coupe and there are already door dings and scratches. how do i buff out scratches? i see the white underneath one of them, is there anything i can do about it? -what is this 'you should wax a car a 100 times' thing. i'm wondering if i should have used that turtle wax thing from the getgo and how often i should use it if i start now.-when i do oil changes, can i do it myself? and i'm not yet at 3000 miles but i've heard that the first time should be asap. -anything else that you guys could tell me considering issues you guys encountered with your first cars or with the coupe, let me know! otherwise, i love it. thank you

well, first off welcome. Now to help with some of your concerns........the brakes should be "grabby" they are new. Wish they would be more "grabby" with my 3.5 though, had a 2.5 before so I know what you mean with "grabby", and when brakes are released, the car jumps.....power ain't bad is my guess. And as for the dings and such, I would recommend parking far,far away from everybody else...........touch up paint should help a little, the dents can be repaired by somebody who knows how to pop a dent. Should not be a problem with changing your own oil............it is your car. Just be careful with that because if the dealership see's no record of maintaining your ride........they could try and pull some crap. I am not an expert, but hope my advice may shed a lil' light.

jdshift pretty much cleared it up.

Walk further if you have to, it's a new car and some are jealous/have no respect. Removing "dings" is pricey, unless the Paint is damage I would just suck it up because they are expensive.

From what I've read from Forums, most say to leave it in there until 8k/km, something to do with Additives(?). DIY is pretty easy just take your time with Safety and have someone with you if this is your first time.

I/we have 4 Free Oil Changes from our dealer. I will DIY and change to Synthetic around 20k/km, using Castrol 0W-30 German Synthec.

WELCOME!

I'm in the VIP club at my dealership.

Lifetime oilchanges and car washes and I got 15 dollars so far to my next car...haha. What a joke...hahaha.

Well, you pay for it up front, so, it's not really free either.

They don't do synthetic...sucks.

I called Service today, they say 3,750 is when I should do the first oil change. But I told them that is way too long from what my buds are saying here on the forum. So, the guys said I'm VIP, I can bring it in when I want and they will do it.

I think when I hit 2,000 I will and will have to pay the difference between regular and synthetic.

The only thing I could add is:1. Don't use dish wash detergent to wash your car, even if the manual says you can. I saw a video that said dishwashing liquid drys out your paint job. Get some nice car wash products. Don't ever go to a brush car wash or any machine car wash were something rubs on your car, plastic, cloth, or whatever. Only did it once...and damn, so many micro scratches...

2. Any bird droppings that hit your car should be aggressively attacked and washed. Get yourself some spray detailer and knock them out. Bird mess has an acidic quality--It will burn into the paint. If you get out of your car and see some...get it then...don't let it sit.

My install guy is going to buff some stuff out for me. I think I'll just have to do this every couple months or so...sad...

3. I agree, there appears to be a white layer beneith the black paint...and that sucks like hell. Some one else reported they felt their paint easily chipped. I'm starting to think so as well. Everyday, I find some new scratch or ding. Black paint, you love it, you hate it.

that is so true! and i got lazy so i put it through the car wash and now i have a lot of micro scratches and just from random people bumping into my car with bags and such there are little scratches.the paint does chip REALLY easily. I know that i'm being a bit anal about it, but just road debris and whatnot is driving me nuts.i have to drive on the highway to get back and forth from school and home. i drove through a snowstorm last week and i was in a rush so i drove past those trucks that spray salt on the roads and i heard them ALL over my car. washed it the other day and now i see tiny tiny little chips all over my front bumper and i really miss how it looked when i first drove it off the lot. what can i do at this point to atleast get it somewhat back to how it used to be??

Blame "environmentally friendly" water-based paint for the ease of chipping/scratching. I don't like it either...
