HELP!!! I just set the timing on my sr. I took it out for a quick test ride and its reving really slugishly, and the boost just kept climbing. Im running just the factory wastegate actuator with a vacuum line on it from the smic cold pipe. When i popped the hood my exhaust manifold was glowing. I have no idea what is going on anymore.

your wastegate should be hooked to a vacuum source off of your intake plenum. either of the larger ports are fine.

although it sounds like you have other problems as well. do you have a boost gauge? what boost levels were you getting to?

depending on the setup it is normal to be able to get your exhaust manifold to glow after driving the piss out of it for an extended period of time. otherwise it is a sign of running lean and possibly detonation.

what is the rest of your setup like? stock? have you had any tuning done?

Its stock, and the wastegate is hooked up to a vacuum source that worked the last time i had the car running( the niple on the cold side, but ill move it to the manifold). I'm now running on a different t25 i got from a friend as a temporary replacement for mine. I have a boost gauge and i hit 15psi before i backed off. I really didnt drive the piss out of it... i pulled out of the drive way... gave it some gas it was sluggish and slow reving. Turned around like 2 houses down the street, came back stepped on it, saw the boost gauge just keep going after 10psi so i quickly backed off and let it idle into the driveway. No tune on the car, its completely stock aside from the exhaust manifold and exhaust. It was running fine before i pulled the motor to paint the engine bay and change all the coolant hoses. I was thinking it was running lean also but im not shure how the hell it started running lean, i haven't really changed anything since i pulled it.

On a side note i did have the upper and lower intake manifold off, think maybe the injectors got damaged/dirty?

Edit- Also thanks for the help Karma. Usually i have no problem figuring these things out but everything is just kinda adding up today.
