Problem: 3 weeks ago my engine started cutting out at random times, in random gears, in different weather. I went about replacing the PTU. And it seemed to help, but the same problem reered it's ugly head. Then I replaced the Air Filters. Although my car now has a more stable Idle, the same problem exists. Last night i replaced the Fuel Filter and Fuel lines and then got an oil change. Car ran great for the rest of the night.
This morning I went to start my car, excited for the easy driving I thought was ahead. I get about 3 blocks away from my house and then engine flat out dies. RPM drops to 0, All the warning lights turned on, and the steering locked up. I tried restarting the car while i was coasting, but no luck. I finally got the car to start once I pulled over to the side of the road. Turned everything completely off, slid it into first, took the key out, put it back in and tried again, and gave it gas. (it was a pain).
So, anyways, I got to school with no other problems. After school i return to my car, get halfway home and the same thing happens on the freeway. **** **** ****ing ****. Good thing I was in the far right lane. So I pulled over to the right and went through the whole startup process again.
And then again, about a mile from my house the car cuts out, but no warning lights come on and it turns right back on without me doing anything.
So, I have a couple of ideas and I would love your input/other ideas/solutions/experience.
-Bad PTU? I know it's new, but maybe it's flawed.-Poor connectors? (corrosion/loose connections)-Fuel Injectors?
Thanks for your help.
