i took my motor apart and me and my brother in law found this small ring look alike. i want to know what that is. he say its a oil seal. but what is the name of that part? can anybody help me.

it's near the timing chain. its close to the oil filter. its a small ring piece. i just want to know the name of that piece cause we need to replace it.
